Alzheimer's & Mum - January 2011

Published on 24 February 2026 at 18:19

Mum's new friend, the consultant at the memory clinic. Our new hangout.

The lengthy talks began of when and how it all started. The ongoing tests for mum began. Dad and I were there, mum's English is not perfect, so we had to translate for some of the memory test questions.

It went on, she is on pills already to calm her anxiety and panic attacks. That was a relief for us all and I'm sure for mum. She was once again calm.

Depression was ruled out and memory loss was more of an accurate opinion.

MRI scan done. Was scary, mum started to breath really fast.

Shit she is panicking! "Calm down mum it's ok, I'm right here, you are ok." Who knew that this would become my new mantra for mum.
